Introduction: Blockchain technology is emerging with amazing potential in many aspects of life including the sports industry, cryptocurrencies, smart contracts and NFTs are beginning to find numerous applications in the sports industry and have the potential to transform the entire sports ecosystem. strongly affect. Therefore, the current research was carried out with the aim of examining the future of the sports industry and blockchain technology.
Methods: The current research is applied research that was conducted with a qualitative approach and thematic analysis method. Also, the statistical population of this research includes university professors in the fields of management. sports, economics, marketing, law, management, computer engineering and managers of sports clubs who were familiar with blockchain, also statistical samples were identified by snowball method and after conducting interviews and reaching theoretical saturation, the number of 9 interviews and 43 The international article was chosen as the source of the current research, and some of these 43 articles were the result of the review of more than hundreds of valid articles. In addition to library study and internet search, one of the tools of this research was a semi-structured interview. In order to measure the validity of the present study, the reliability and generalizability method was used, and in order to measure the reliability, the intra-subject agreement method was used.
Results: The results of qualitative data analysis from interviews, library search and internet search lead to the extraction of 7 main categories with the titles of fan engagement and loyalty program, NFT, decentralized financial services in sports, Ticket sales and control and access, fantasy sports and betting, financial support and brand management, and Metaverse world and 15 subcategories and 59 The sub-category was created to examine the future of the sports industry and blockchain technology.
Conclusion: As blockchain technology matures, blockchain will have a prominent place in the future sports industry. The integration and development of blockchain and various industries is an inevitable process that can not only create a technological revolution, but also change production relationships and business models, reconstruct the social value system, and redefine the value system of the sports industry. The purpose of this article was to examine the future of the sports industry through the lens of blockchain technology, identifying key areas and potential impact and developments.
