Abstract
It is crucial to enhance the quality and quantity of military training to increase the combat and defense capabilities of the armed forces. Meanwhile, the physical fitness of military personnel is the foundation of their combat readiness. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to identify the driving and inhibiting factors for employees to participate in regular physical activity at Imam Ali University. The research method of the current research is applied, qualitative, and of thematic analysis type. The statistical population included physical education professors of Imam Ali Officers Academy, the director of physical education, and physical education personnel of Imam Ali Officers Academy, who were selected by purposive sampling. The data collection tool included in-depth and semi-structured interviews, which were conducted with 15 elites in the relevant field until theoretical saturation was reached. The results indicated the existence of 5 main driving factor themes and 4 main inhibiting themes as follows. The 5 main themes in relation to driving factors include Scientific Equipment and Exercises (proper facilities and environment, scientificness of exercises, formalization of physical education group), Awareness and Advertising (public awareness, sports advertising), Incentives (appreciation and encouragement, accurate evaluation), the Attentions of the Command Unit (timely separation, emphasis of the command), and Competitions (formation of sports teams, sending to competitions). And the 4 main themes in relation to the inhibiting factors include on the Job and Family Stress (stress, work pressure), Lack of Scientific Sports Personnel (lack of consecutive sports program, lack of scientific personnel), not giving priority to sports (lack of attention to athletes, inadequate facilities, little attention to sports), the existence of traditional thoughts (traditional thoughts). University leaders and administrators are urged to implement a targeted strategy for enhancing and modernizing sports infrastructure, coupled with increased investment in innovative sports training. This endeavor should be complemented by implementing comprehensive training and informational initiatives, as well as launching engaging advertising campaigns and diverse incentive schemes to bolster employee motivation. Additionally, by allocating ample time and offering moral support to athletes, university leadership can lay the groundwork for broader participation in physical activities. Moreover, creating opportunities for competition and showcasing talents in sporting events can foster a culture of sportsmanship among personnel.
