Talent Management in Handball: Identifying the Factors of Engaging, Developing and Retaining Talent in Iran's Handball

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify the factors effecting engaging, developing and retaining talent in Iran's Handball based on the grounded theory approach. This research was exploratory in terms of depth of scope and was qualitative in terms of type of data use. The data was collected through documents and interviews with 15 handball experts in deep-interview and semi-structured forms. The sample selected through subjective sampling and snowball approach and interviews continued to get theoretical saturation. Then, data analyzed by the three coding processes included three: open, axial and selective coding. Findings indicated the existence of 20 effective concepts in the talent planning section that were categorized into six components. In the talent developing section, 25 effective concepts were classified into eight components and in the talent retaining section, 22 effective concepts were classified into seven components, based on results: strategies such as; using qualified professionals and trainers, use of quality facilities and equipment, holding competitions and camps, systematic and scientific training of talents, media coverage, material and spiritual support for talented people can be helpful for government officials in talent management of Handball.
