Identifying Effective Enablers for Explaining a Digital Transformation Model in Sports Organizations

Abstract
The present study aimed to identify the effective enablers for explaining a digital transformation model in sports organizations. In terms of its purpose, this study is fundamental, while in terms of the type of data used, it is qualitative and employs the grounded theory research method following the Glaserian approach. Data were collected through in-depth, semi-structured interviews with 12 experts in sport management and digital transformation who were selected through purposive sampling. Data coding and analysis were conducted alongside and immediately after each interview.
The findings showed that organizational, behavioral, environmental, operational, and educational enablers were the main categories influencing the explanation of the digital transformation model. Organizational enablers included components such as diagnosis, leadership, and strategy. Behavioral enablers referred to cultural adaptation and stakeholder acceptance. Environmental enablers involved external support, while operational enablers encompassed technical capabilities and resource integration. Educational enablers included the concept of organizational capability development.
Accordingly, systematic attention to the identified enablers and the creation of appropriate conditions for their development can facilitate the successful explanation and implementation of a digital transformation model in sports organizations.
